The BMW Championship Comes to the Village at Castle Pines

BWM Tournament

For one week this summer, the BMW Championship Tournament will be held at the Castle Pines Golf Club, which calls the Village at Castle Pines its home neighborhood.

The BMW Championship will be a week-long event from Monday, August 19, to Sunday, August 25.

The BMW Championship will be played at the Castle Pines Golf Club. It has been 18 years since the last professional golf tournament, The International, was held in the Village. The event will be broadcast on the GOLF Channel and NBC and viewed in over 70 countries. Domestic viewership is estimated at 22.34 million viewers.

About the BMW Championship Tournament

The BMW Championship Tournament, organized by the Western Golf Association, dates to 1899 and was initially known as the Western Open. The top fifty golf professionals in the FedExCup standings will compete in the four-day tournament. The FedExCup is the championship trophy for the PGA TOUR. Its introduction in 2007 marked the first time men’s professional golf had a playoff system. Since its inception, the competition has been sponsored by FedEx. The competition is a season-long event, and points are awarded based on the finishing position in all PGA TOUR-sanctioned events and tournaments.

Prior FedEx champions include Patrick Cantlay, Viktor Hovland, Justin Tomas, Rory Mcllroy, and Tiger Woods. The BMW championship is the second of three events in the PGA TOUR for the FedEx Cup, with the top thirty players following the event competing the following week in the PGA TOUR Championship.

Proceeds from the BMW Championship help fund the Evans Scholars Foundation, which awards scholarships, full tuition, and housing to high-achieving caddies with limited financial means. More than 12,000 caddies nationwide have graduated under this program, and 1,130 Evans Scholars are currently enrolled in 24 universities. Since 2007, the tournament has raised more than $45 million for the foundation.

Feeding Our Birds

It’s Winter: Set the Table! When our Village at Castle Pines bears are done with their fall feasting, it’s a great time to start feeding winter birds. Many of our bird species have returned to their tropical habitats to avoid the cold and the low food supply. The species that remain in Colorado for the winter need to increase their food intake just to stay warm. Some well-fed birds may even produce more eggs the following spring. Winter is the time when food is scarcest, and many birds benefit from supplemental food sources. The basic foods to feed in winter ...
